Marquette, MI – Michigan's Upper Peninsula is preparing for a dramatic change in temperatures this week, with unusually warm conditions pushing highs near 70 degrees Tuesday, November 3, before colder air sends overnight temperatures into the upper 20s in some communities by Friday, November 6.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, southerly winds will continue transporting warmer air into the region through Tuesday as a low pressure system moves from the Colorado Rockies toward the Dakotas.
The resulting weather pattern will produce unseasonably warm temperatures , increasing cloud cover and several rounds of widespread rainfall across Upper Michigan.
Monday, November 2, will bring afternoon highs between 57 and 67 degrees , with rain chances increasing during the afternoon and evening.
Overnight temperatures will remain unusually mild, ranging from 52 to 57 degrees.
The warmest conditions are expected Tuesday, November 3 , when afternoon temperatures could reach 62 to 70 degrees across the Upper Peninsula.
However, widespread showers are expected to develop Tuesday and continue periodically through Thursday.
Wednesday, November 4, will bring another round of likely rainfall, with afternoon highs dropping to 53 to 63 degrees .
The cooling trend will accelerate Thursday, November 5, as temperatures struggle to reach the mid 50s in some locations.
Thursday afternoon highs are forecast between 45 and 55 degrees , followed by overnight lows ranging from 30 to 39 degrees .
By Friday morning, November 6, some communities could experience temperatures as low as 27 degrees , with regional overnight lows ranging from 27 to 35 degrees.
Friday afternoon temperatures will remain considerably cooler, reaching only 40 to 50 degrees , with a slight chance of additional showers.
Residents across Marquette, Houghton, Iron Mountain and surrounding Upper Peninsula communities should prepare for changing weather conditions throughout the week.
Repeated rainfall could create wet pavement and reduced visibility during travel, particularly Tuesday through Thursday.
The sharp temperature decline will also make conditions noticeably colder by the end of the workweek.
Although temperatures may fall below freezing in some locations, the supplied forecast does not indicate a specific freeze warning or accumulating snowfall threat.
