Marquette, Michigan – Morning frost ends shortly after sunrise Wednesday before dry weather and steadily warmer temperatures spread across Upper Michigan.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, temperatures fell into the 30s away from the Great Lakes shores Wednesday morning, allowing frost to develop. High pressure to the northeast will keep the region dry through the rest of the workweek.
Marquette is expected to reach 64 degrees Wednesday, followed by 67 Thursday and 69 Friday. Overnight lows rise from 44 Wednesday night to 45 Thursday night and 49 Friday night.
Some inland communities started considerably colder. Iron River and Republic fell to 33 degrees, while Iron Mountain reached 37. Newberry also dropped to 33, compared with 50 at Copper Harbor along Lake Superior.
Temperatures will climb across the region through Friday. Ironwood, Ishpeming, Iron River and Houghton are among the communities expected to reach 70 degrees Friday. L'Anse reaches 71, while Munising and Newberry climb to 72.
The warming trend will also raise nighttime temperatures, reducing the frost threat shown Wednesday morning. Inland lows that started in the 30s generally rise into the 40s by Friday.
Dry conditions should limit weather related disruptions for travel and outdoor activities through the end of the workweek. Residents dealing with frost sensitive plants Wednesday morning should see milder conditions as temperatures recover.
The main change through Friday will be the steady warmup. Frost wraps up shortly after sunrise Wednesday, followed by dry conditions and highs around 70 degrees for many Upper Michigan communities by Friday.
