GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — November will begin unusually mild across western Michigan, with Grand Rapids climbing into the lower 70s Tuesday before a wetter midweek pattern brings widespread showers and a noticeable cooldown toward the end of the week.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high near 68 Sunday, Nov. 1 . Monday remains mild near 66 with only a slight afternoon shower chance before temperatures climb even higher Tuesday.
73° Warmth Peaks Tuesday Tuesday, Nov. 3, becomes the warmest day in the current forecast.
Grand Rapids is expected to reach around 73 degrees , with south winds of 9–11 mph and gusts potentially reaching 25 mph. A 30% shower chance develops mainly during the afternoon.
Tuesday night becomes much wetter, with showers likely after 1 a.m. and precipitation chances increasing to 70% . Temperatures stay mild near 59.
That gives western Michigan a notable early November stretch of 68 Sunday, 66 Monday and 73 Tuesday before the weather turns wetter.
Rain Peaks Wednesday Wednesday, Nov. 4, becomes the wettest day of the week.
The Weather Service forecasts showers with an 80% chance of precipitation and a high near 68. Rain remains likely Wednesday night before chances decrease Thursday.
Thursday stays mostly cloudy with a shower chance and a high near 63. By Friday, the high falls to around 58, followed by approximately 57 Saturday.
The late week drop is substantial compared with Tuesday’s 73 degree warmth, but it does not necessarily signal the beginning of sustained winter weather.
Warmth Still Favored Through Nov. 14 NOAA’s broader Great Lakes outlook continues to favor above normal temperatures through Nov. 14 , keeping November warmth as the primary regional theme. The second week precipitation pattern also trends drier across many Great Lakes locations.
Michigan requires some added nuance. NOAA’s monthly precipitation outlook contains a localized below normal signal across portions of the state, meaning the broader November precipitation story is not identical everywhere in Michigan.
For Grand Rapids, the immediate forecast is much clearer: 73° Tuesday, widespread rain Tuesday night and Wednesday, then highs falling into the upper 50s by Nov. 6–7.
As Thanksgiving and holiday travel season approach, the larger question remains whether western Michigan’s first sustained taste of winter can hold off beyond the middle of November.
