Gaylord, MI – Rain showers and isolated thunderstorms moving across northern Michigan Thursday morning, Oct. 29, are expected to fade by early afternoon, setting the stage for several days of quieter weather, including a mostly dry Halloween weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, showers and perhaps an occasional rumble of thunder will gradually diminish Thursday morning, with most rainfall ending by approximately 1 or 2 p.m.
Cloud cover is also expected to decrease as the day progresses, allowing for improving conditions across northern Lower Michigan.
Thursday afternoon temperatures will remain relatively mild, with regional highs ranging from 56 to 71 degrees.
However, forecasters indicate that another round of rain showers could develop Thursday night across portions of eastern Upper Michigan.
After that, a quieter weather pattern is expected to settle over the region for several days.
Friday, Oct. 30, will bring cooler conditions, with partly sunny skies and afternoon highs ranging from 48 to 61 degrees.
The cooler temperatures will be short lived as readings begin recovering heading into Halloween Saturday, Oct. 31.
For families planning trick or treating, community celebrations and other outdoor Halloween activities, the forecast currently looks favorable.
The National Weather Service expects partly sunny skies Saturday, with afternoon temperatures ranging from 54 to 61 degrees.
No significant precipitation is indicated in the supplied Halloween forecast.
Sunday, Nov. 1, brings another modest temperature increase, with highs expected to range from 57 to 66 degrees.
Skies will range from mostly cloudy to partly sunny, continuing the generally quiet weather pattern.
Residents across Gaylord, Traverse City, Alpena and surrounding northern Michigan communities can expect improving conditions after Thursday's showers.
Those traveling through eastern Upper Michigan should remain aware of the possibility of additional showers Thursday night.
Forecasters expect the overall pattern to remain relatively calm through the weekend, providing a favorable outlook for Halloween activities across much of northern Michigan.
