Gaylord, MI – Residents across northern Michigan can expect another stretch of unusually warm fall weather Saturday, October 10, with afternoon temperatures approaching 80 degrees before rain chances return early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, beautiful fall conditions will continue Saturday, with mostly sunny skies and afternoon highs ranging from 71 to 79 degrees across the region.
The warmest locations could approach 80 degrees, offering summerlike temperatures during a time of year when cooler autumn conditions are typically becoming more common.
However, gusty southerly winds are expected to develop Saturday afternoon, bringing breezy conditions to outdoor activities and exposed areas.
Communities across northern Lower Michigan, including Gaylord in Otsego County, Traverse City in Grand Traverse County and surrounding areas, can expect generally pleasant conditions despite the increasing winds.
Saturday night will remain mostly clear, with overnight temperatures falling between 52 and 60 degrees.
Sunday brings another favorable day for outdoor activities, with mostly sunny skies and afternoon highs ranging from 68 to 77 degrees.
The National Weather Service expects the warmer than normal pattern to continue through Monday before the next weather system introduces a chance of rain Monday night.
Following that transition, temperatures are forecast to return closer to typical mid October levels.
While the forecast highlights gusty winds Saturday, the weather service's posted outlook does not specify peak wind speeds or indicate a widespread severe weather threat.
Residents planning fall color drives, hiking trips or other outdoor activities should find favorable weather conditions through much of the weekend.
Those with plans early next week should monitor forecast updates as rain chances increase and cooler temperatures approach.
