Gaylord, MI — Northern Michigan residents can expect a pleasant stretch of fall weather through Saturday, but a noticeable temperature drop and renewed rain chances are on the horizon as the region heads into next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, areas of morning fog Thursday will gradually dissipate, allowing sunshine to return by the afternoon. High temperatures are expected to range from 58 to 70 degrees across northern Lower Michigan and eastern Upper Michigan.
Thursday night will bring another opportunity for fog development, with overnight temperatures falling between 35 and 44 degrees. Drivers traveling late at night or early Friday should remain alert for reduced visibility.
Friday, Oct. 23, will feature partly sunny skies and afternoon highs between 58 and 68 degrees. Overnight lows are forecast to range from 37 to 47 degrees.
Similar conditions will continue Saturday, Oct. 24, with partly sunny skies and highs between 60 and 68 degrees. Overnight temperatures will be somewhat milder, ranging from 43 to 53 degrees.
The next opportunity for rainfall arrives Sunday, Oct. 25, particularly during the morning hours across eastern Upper Michigan.
Forecasters expect isolated showers, although much of the region could remain dry. Sunday temperatures are projected to reach between 58 and 70 degrees before overnight lows fall into the upper 30s and middle 40s.
A more noticeable change arrives Monday, Oct. 26, when afternoon highs are expected to range from just 47 to 62 degrees, depending on location.
Additional rain chances will accompany the cooler conditions as northern Michigan transitions toward a more typical late October weather pattern.
Residents planning weekend outdoor activities should take advantage of the generally favorable Friday and Saturday conditions while monitoring updated forecasts for Sunday's showers and Monday's cooldown.
