Gaylord, Michigan – Northern Michigan gets a dry, sunny Monday before a rainy Tuesday brings wet roads and changing travel conditions across the northern Lower Peninsula.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, high pressure settling across Lower Michigan will produce abundant sunshine, light winds and near normal afternoon temperatures Monday. Highs will range from 68 to 73 degrees across northern Lower Michigan, while the eastern Upper Peninsula stays cooler at 64 to 68.
The quiet conditions make Monday the better window for outdoor work, travel and other weather sensitive plans around Gaylord and communities across northern Lower Michigan.
Conditions change Tuesday, when rain becomes likely across the northern Lower Peninsula. Temperatures will actually climb despite the wetter pattern, with highs ranging from 73 to 79 degrees.
Motorists using Interstate 75 and other northern Michigan routes should prepare for wet pavement and reduced visibility Tuesday. Drivers should allow additional stopping distance during heavier rainfall and keep headlights on when visibility drops.
Wednesday turns drier, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs from 67 to 74 degrees.
Residents should take advantage of Monday's dry conditions and monitor National Weather Service updates before Tuesday travel, particularly if rain becomes widespread or heavier than expected.
