Gaylord, MI – A warm and breezy weekend is expected across northern Michigan Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10 11, before a cold front brings another chance of showers and a return to more seasonable temperatures early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, temperatures will remain unusually mild through the weekend, with Saturday afternoon highs ranging from the 70s to near 80 degrees across portions of northern Michigan.
Saturday is expected to remain dry, although clouds will increase across southern portions of the forecast area. Breezy conditions are also anticipated during the afternoon.
Friday night temperatures will fall into the middle 30s to upper 40s, with mostly clear skies across northern areas and partly to mostly cloudy conditions farther south.
Sunday will bring additional cloud cover, particularly near Saginaw Bay, while sunshine is expected elsewhere. Afternoon temperatures will remain mild, generally reaching the 60s and 70s.
The weather pattern begins changing Monday as a cold front approaches the Great Lakes region.
Monday temperatures are forecast to reach 67 to 77 degrees, with another warm afternoon expected before cooler air moves into the region Tuesday.
Showers will become possible Monday and Tuesday as the front moves through northern Michigan. The National Weather Service has not specified rainfall totals in the supplied outlook.
By Wednesday, temperatures are expected to return closer to typical mid October levels, with dry conditions forecast.
Additional shower chances could develop Thursday and Friday as the cooler weather pattern continues.
For residents across northwest and northeast Lower Michigan and eastern Upper Michigan, the weekend offers a relatively dry stretch before rain chances return early next week.
The next significant weather change is expected Monday into Tuesday, when the approaching cold front brings increasing shower chances and a gradual cooldown.
