Gaylord, MI – Residents across northern Michigan should prepare for another stretch of unsettled weather this week, with rain returning Thursday night, October 15, followed by gusty northwest winds and noticeably cooler temperatures Friday, October 16.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, a stronger weather system is expected to move through the region toward the end of the workweek, bringing increasing chances of rainfall, breezy conditions and chilly wind chills.
Showers Possible Tonight Before Midweek Break
Tuesday night, October 13, will feature partly to mostly cloudy skies, with brief periods of light rain possible across portions of northern Michigan.
Forecasters indicate that rainfall accumulations should remain light, and lightning is not expected with Tuesday night's showers.
Mostly cloudy skies and breezy northwest winds will continue into Wednesday, October 14, when afternoon temperatures are expected to range from 53 to 65 degrees.
Rain Returns Thursday as Stronger System Approaches
Rain chances will increase again late Thursday, October 15, continuing into Friday as a stronger weather system crosses the region.
Thursday afternoon highs are forecast between 53 and 61 degrees before temperatures drop further heading into the weekend.
By Friday, October 16, afternoon highs are expected to range from just 48 to 58 degrees across northern Michigan.
Gusty northwest winds Friday into Friday night could make outdoor conditions feel considerably colder than the actual air temperature.
Residents Should Prepare for a Chilly Friday
The combination of rainfall, cooler temperatures and increasing winds could create uncomfortable conditions for commuters, outdoor workers and residents attending Friday evening activities.
Motorists should watch for wet pavement and changing visibility during periods of rainfall.
Residents planning outdoor activities should consider warmer clothing and rain protection, particularly Friday afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service encourages residents to monitor updated forecasts as confidence increases in the timing and strength of the approaching weather system.
