Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan residents are in for a noticeable weather shift this week, with temperatures potentially climbing into the lower 80s Monday and Tuesday before cooler conditions arrive Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service NWS in Detroit/Pontiac, the early week forecast includes morning showers Sunday, areas of fog Monday, another chance of rain Tuesday and a drop in daytime temperatures by midweek.
Monday Could Bring Highs Near 82 Degrees
Sunday, October 11, begins with morning showers mainly across southern portions of the region. Afternoon temperatures are expected to reach between 66 and 75 degrees.
By Monday, October 12, temperatures are forecast to climb considerably, with highs ranging from 77 to 82 degrees across southeast Michigan.
Areas of morning fog could temporarily reduce visibility before giving way to partly cloudy skies.
The warmer conditions are expected to continue Tuesday, October 13, with afternoon highs again reaching between 75 and 82 degrees.
However, forecasters indicate another chance of showers, particularly during the first half of Tuesday.
Cooler Temperatures Return Wednesday
A noticeable cooldown is expected Wednesday, October 14, as afternoon highs fall to between 62 and 70 degrees.
That represents a potential temperature difference of more than 15 degrees between the warmest early week conditions and Wednesday's cooler readings, depending on location.
Wednesday is expected to feature partly sunny skies, with a low chance of a brief shower near the Ohio border.
What Residents Should Expect
Drivers should remain alert for reduced visibility in fog Monday morning, particularly during the early commute.
Residents planning outdoor activities Monday or Tuesday can expect unusually warm afternoon conditions for mid October, although Tuesday's rain chances could interrupt plans.
The forecast covers southeast Michigan, including the Detroit metropolitan area. Conditions may vary across individual communities.
Residents should monitor updated National Weather Service forecasts as the week progresses.
