Coldwater, MI – A routine traffic stop conducted by the Branch County Sheriff 's Office resulted in the arrest of a woman on drug possession charges on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
According to the Branch County Sheriff's Office, a deputy initiated a stop on a black 2011 Kia Forte at approximately 8:39 a.m. on Dunks Road near Arbogast Road. During the subsequent investigation, the deputy allegedly discovered suspected controlled substances and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as a 49 year old woman, was taken into custody on the scene.
Field testing of the recovered substances produced positive results for methamphetamine and psilocybin. The driver was arrested for the possession of these substances and was transported to the Branch County Jail without incident.
Sheriff Frederick A. Blankenship reaffirmed his office’s commitment to curbing illegal drug activity within the community. The department stated that deputies will continue to investigate such incidents to remove dangerous substances from the area.
