Clyde Township, MI – Two women face felony drug charges after authorities say a traffic stop in St. Clair County led investigators to more than 280 grams of methamphetamine and suspected drug sales materials.
According to the St. Clair County Sheriff 's Office Drug Task Force, investigators initiated a traffic stop shortly before 6 p.m. Monday after observing multiple alleged traffic violations in Clyde Township.
Authorities identified the driver as 32 year old Jazmin Skinner of Port Hope and the passenger as 32 year old Jasmine Ryan of Port Huron . Investigators allege both women were found in possession of methamphetamine during the stop.
With assistance from a Homeland Security K 9 unit, authorities searched the vehicle and allegedly located additional methamphetamine along with materials associated with narcotics sales. The sheriff's office said more than 280 grams of methamphetamine was recovered in total.
Both women were taken into custody and appeared Wednesday in 72nd District Court.
Ryan was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with a double penalty enhancement, according to the sheriff's office. Her bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.
Skinner was charged with three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with double penalty enhancements. Her bond was also set at $25,000 cash or surety.
The sheriff's office described the arrests as connected to narcotics sales. No additional information about the alleged sales activity or why the enhanced penalties were applied was provided in the agency's announcement.
The charges are accusations. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
