Ann Arbor, MI – Two Ann Arbor schools received similar possible bomb threats Monday afternoon, prompting an evacuation and police response before authorities determined neither threat was credible.
According to the Ann Arbor Police Department , officers responded to Slauson Middle School Monday afternoon after receiving a report of a possible bomb threat. The school had already dismissed for the day when officers arrived.
Out of an abundance of caution, remaining students and staff inside the building were evacuated while officers conducted a search. Police said nothing suspicious was found.
During the investigation, officers learned that Ann Arbor Open K 8 had received a similar threat at approximately the same time.
Police said neither threat included specific details. Instead, authorities described the messages as presenting a hypothetical scenario.
Both threats were assessed as not credible, according to police. However, the investigation remains active, and the Ann Arbor Police Department said it is working closely with Ann Arbor Public Schools.
Authorities did not announce any arrests or identify a person suspected of making the threats in Monday's update. Police also did not indicate that any explosive device or other suspicious item was discovered at either school.
