Orleans, MA – A single family home on Morningside Circle was destroyed by a fire early Monday morning. The blaze broke out at approximately 3:36 a.m., prompting an immediate and extensive emergency response.
According to the Town of Orleans Fire Rescue, multiple 911 calls were routed through the Barnstable County Sheriff ’s Office Communications Center to alert authorities of the structure fire. When the first units arrived on the scene, they discovered the residence was approximately 75% engulfed in flames, with a vehicle in the driveway also burning.
Due to the intensity of the blaze, a working fire was declared, necessitating additional assistance from fire departments in Eastham, Harwich, Brewster, Chatham, and Yarmouth, with Hyannis and Wellfleet providing station coverage. Firefighters worked for about 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.
The structure was reportedly undergoing renovations at the time of the incident and was unoccupied. Officials confirmed that there were no injuries sustained during the fire or the subsequent firefighting efforts.
The home is currently considered a total loss. Crews remained on site until 10:00 a.m. to complete necessary overhaul operations and ensure the area was secure.
The Orleans Police Department , Water Department, and Building Department also provided support during the incident. The official cause and origin of the fire remain under active investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Fire Investigation Unit and the local fire department .
