Boston, MA – Massachusetts residents can expect another cold night Sunday, October 18, with temperatures potentially falling into the upper 20s across colder inland communities before a gradual warming trend begins Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, clear skies and relatively mild afternoon temperatures will give way to another chilly overnight period across much of southern New England. Coastal communities are expected to remain somewhat warmer than inland locations.
Temperatures could fall as low as 29 degrees tonight
Sunday afternoon highs are forecast to reach between 54 and 57 degrees across the region, with mostly sunny skies and light to calm winds.
However, temperatures are expected to drop significantly overnight, with forecast lows ranging from 29 to 40 degrees in much of the region.
The coldest conditions are expected away from the coast, where temperatures could fall below freezing.
Residents with sensitive outdoor plants should consider taking precautions before temperatures drop Sunday evening.
Monday brings warmer temperatures and increasing clouds
The National Weather Service expects a modest warming trend to begin Monday, October 19.
Afternoon highs should reach between 56 and 62 degrees, while overnight lows generally range from 38 to 50 degrees.
Cloud cover will increase from southeast to northwest throughout the day.
Forecasters also indicate a low chance of showers across southeastern New England, particularly Monday evening and overnight.
Tuesday forecast includes breezy conditions
By Tuesday, October 20, temperatures are expected to climb slightly higher, with afternoon highs between 57 and 64 degrees.
Conditions should remain mostly dry across much of southern New England, although breezy weather is anticipated.
A limited chance of showers will remain near the islands.
Tuesday night temperatures could fall into the mid 30s to upper 40s.
Residents across Massachusetts, Rhode Island and neighboring areas should continue monitoring updated forecasts as temperatures fluctuate and rain chances develop early this week.
