Boston, MA – Residents across the Boston area and eastern Massachusetts should prepare for chilly mornings later this week, with temperatures falling into the 30s in parts of the region as an offshore storm brings the possibility of rain, gusty winds and rough seas.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, seasonable October temperatures will continue through the week, with daytime highs generally in the 50s and 60s and overnight temperatures dropping into the upper 30s and lower 40s across many locations.
On Tuesday, October 20 , afternoon temperatures are expected to reach 60 to 65 degrees. Conditions will remain partly cloudy, although increasing clouds and gusty winds are forecast across Cape Cod and the Islands.
By Wednesday, October 21 , highs will range from 55 to 60 degrees, with breezy conditions and partly cloudy skies. Rain chances are expected to increase Wednesday night, primarily in areas south of Interstate 95.
The National Weather Service indicates that an offshore storm could bring gusty winds and rough seas, particularly near coastal communities.
Thursday, October 22 , will begin with overnight or early morning temperatures ranging from 35 to 50 degrees across southern New England. Some rain remains possible early before increasing sunshine develops throughout the day.
Afternoon highs Thursday should reach 55 to 65 degrees.
The cooler weather becomes more noticeable Friday morning, October 23 , when regional lows are forecast between 30 and 45 degrees, with the coldest readings likely outside the warmer urban and coastal areas.
Friday afternoon will remain cooler, with highs between 48 and 58 degrees under sunny skies.
By Saturday, October 24, sunshine continues, with temperatures recovering slightly to between 50 and 60 degrees.
For Boston area commuters, early morning travelers and residents spending time outdoors, additional layers may be necessary as temperatures fluctuate throughout the week.
The National Weather Service expects generally dry conditions outside the midweek rain opportunity, followed by a sunnier weekend.
