Baltimore, MD – Thanksgiving travelers across Maryland could face different late November weather conditions depending on where they are headed, although no snowstorm is currently established for the holiday. Baltimore, Frederick and communities in western Maryland may experience different temperatures as Thanksgiving approaches Thursday, Nov. 26.
According to the Farmers' Almanac's Oct. 19 update, its Northeast forecast region favors cool, mostly fair conditions from Monday, Nov. 23, through Thanksgiving Day, with possible flurries in northern and higher elevation areas.
The publication's flurry language does not establish snowfall for Baltimore or any other Maryland city. Its broader Atlantic Coast outlook generally favors holiday travel, without providing city specific snow totals or timing.
Maryland's geography creates important differences in November weather.
Baltimore and Annapolis benefit from the moderating influence of the Chesapeake Bay, while inland communities around Frederick and Hagerstown can experience colder overnight temperatures.
Farther west, Cumberland and higher elevations in Garrett County, including areas around Oakland and Deep Creek Lake, are more susceptible to early season snowfall.
A weather system producing rain near Baltimore could bring snow to Maryland's western mountains if temperatures are sufficiently cold.
NOAA's November outlook favors above normal temperatures along portions of the East Coast and above normal precipitation across much of the region.
Those monthly probabilities do not determine whether Maryland will see snow during Thanksgiving week. A warmer than average month can still contain brief cold spells, and above normal precipitation does not necessarily mean snowfall.
For holiday travelers, I 95 through Baltimore, I 70 toward Frederick and Hagerstown, and I 68 across western Maryland are important routes to monitor if colder weather develops.
No Thanksgiving related highway disruptions have been established by the long range outlook.
Could Maryland see snow before Thanksgiving 2026? Yes, especially in western and higher elevation communities. However, there is no confirmed Thanksgiving snowfall forecast for Baltimore, Annapolis or Frederick.
Travelers should check National Weather Service forecasts closer to departure for updated temperatures, precipitation timing and road conditions.
