Baltimore, MD – Showers and possible thunderstorms could affect portions of Maryland, Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia throughout Friday, Nov. 6, bringing periods of wet weather to the busy Interstate 95 corridor as afternoon temperatures approach 70 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, showers and possible thunderstorms are expected along and east of Interstate 95 during the day, with precipitation potentially lingering into early Friday evening across St. Mary's County in southern Maryland.
Rain and thunderstorms could affect major travel corridors.
The forecast includes portions of the Baltimore Washington metropolitan region, where commuters and travelers may encounter changing weather conditions throughout Friday.
Communities near Baltimore, Washington, Annapolis and surrounding areas could experience periods of rain, while locations farther south toward Leonardtown and St. Mary's County may see showers continue later into the evening.
Drivers using Interstate 95, Interstate 695, Interstate 495 and connecting highways should remain alert for wet pavement and reduced visibility during heavier showers.
Although thunderstorms are possible, the National Weather Service update does not indicate that widespread severe weather is expected.
Temperatures remain unusually mild for early November.
Despite the unsettled conditions, afternoon highs are forecast to reach around 70 degrees across much of the region east of the Appalachian Mountains.
The National Weather Service temperature map shows highs near 70 degrees around Baltimore and Washington, with similar readings across portions of northern Virginia and central Maryland.
Some locations near the mountains will remain cooler, with temperatures generally ranging from the upper 50s into the 60s.
Farther south, communities near Fredericksburg and Charlottesville could see afternoon temperatures reaching the lower 70s.
Residents planning outdoor activities Friday should keep an eye on changing conditions, particularly during the afternoon and early evening.
Those traveling through southern Maryland should also be prepared for showers that may persist longer than in areas farther north.
