Baltimore, MD – An unusually warm stretch of October weather is expected across Maryland and the Washington, D.C., metropolitan region Tuesday and Wednesday, October 13 14, with afternoon temperatures potentially reaching 87 degrees before a series of frontal systems brings cooler conditions and renewed rain chances later in the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, Tuesday will feature mostly sunny skies and dry conditions across the region, with afternoon highs ranging from 74 to 84 degrees.
Overnight temperatures are expected to fall into the upper 50s and middle 60s, providing relatively mild conditions heading into Wednesday morning.
The warmest weather is forecast Wednesday, October 14, when afternoon highs could reach 72 to 87 degrees across the forecast area.
Most communities will remain dry Wednesday, although northern portions of the region could experience isolated showers as the weather pattern begins changing.
By Thursday, October 15, a frontal system will bring noticeably cooler temperatures, with afternoon highs ranging from 61 to 74 degrees.
Rain chances will increase Thursday, particularly in communities west of Interstate 95, while areas farther east are expected to remain comparatively dry.
The temperature shift could be especially noticeable in locations experiencing highs in the middle to upper 80s Wednesday before cooling into the 60s or lower 70s Thursday.
Additional frontal systems are expected to influence the Mid Atlantic through the end of the week, maintaining opportunities for rainfall as temperatures settle closer to seasonal levels.
The National Weather Service indicates that highs should generally remain in the 60s and 70s toward the end of the workweek.
For residents planning outdoor activities, Tuesday and much of Wednesday currently offer the most favorable conditions before rain chances increase.
Drivers traveling through the Baltimore Washington corridor should monitor updated forecasts for possible wet roads later in the week.
Residents are encouraged to follow National Weather Service updates as the approaching frontal systems develop.
