BALTIMORE, MD — Residents across Baltimore and surrounding communities in Baltimore County should prepare for increasingly chilly overnight temperatures heading into the weekend, with lows expected to reach approximately 40 degrees Friday night, October 23. Despite an offshore Nor'easter affecting portions of the Mid Atlantic coastline, Baltimore's local forecast calls for sunshine and dry conditions through Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service office serving Baltimore and Washington, temperatures will remain in the 60s during the afternoon hours before dropping into the 40s overnight. Friday and Saturday are expected to bring the coolest daytime conditions, with highs near 61 degrees.
Offshore Nor'easter Continues Affecting Mid Atlantic Coast The National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center reported Wednesday morning that a Nor'easter positioned offshore would continue generating hazardous conditions along portions of the Mid Atlantic coastline.
Coastal flooding, beach erosion and dangerous marine conditions remain concerns for exposed shoreline communities, particularly farther south along the coast.
However, Baltimore's local forecast does not indicate significant rainfall or damaging winds associated with the offshore storm.
Residents should distinguish the hazardous coastal conditions affecting exposed shoreline areas from the comparatively quiet weather expected across Baltimore itself.
Five Day Baltimore Weather Outlook Wednesday 10/21: Sunny skies with a high near 65 degrees. North winds around 7 to 9 mph. Mostly clear overnight, with temperatures falling to approximately 45 degrees.
Thursday 10/22: Sunny, with a high near 67 degrees. North winds around 9 to 11 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 18 mph. Clear overnight, with a low near 45 degrees.
Friday 10/23: Sunny skies continue, but afternoon temperatures cool to approximately 61 degrees. Northeast winds around 6 to 8 mph. Mostly clear overnight, with a low near 40 degrees.
Saturday 10/24: Sunny, with a high near 61 degrees. Mostly clear conditions continue Saturday night, with temperatures dropping to approximately 41 degrees.
Sunday 10/25: Sunshine returns, with afternoon temperatures reaching approximately 65 degrees. Mostly clear overnight, with a low near 45 degrees.
Chilly Mornings Could Affect Weekend Plans Friday night and Saturday morning will bring the most noticeable chill, particularly for residents attending outdoor events, traveling early or spending time outside before sunrise.
Temperatures around 40 degrees are above freezing, and the supplied forecast does not indicate frost or a freeze warning for Baltimore.
The combination of sunny afternoons and chilly nights means residents may experience substantial temperature differences between daytime and early morning activities.
Extended Outlook Favors Warmer Temperatures NOAA's Climate Prediction Center outlook for October 28 through November 3 favors above normal temperatures across Maryland.
Meanwhile, the precipitation outlook places the Baltimore region within an area where near normal precipitation is favored.
These longer range outlooks describe probabilities for the overall period rather than specific daily temperatures or rainfall amounts.
For Baltimore residents, the immediate forecast points toward a dry weekend, chilly overnight temperatures and a modest daytime warmup by Sunday.
