Caribou, ME – Northern Maine residents can expect a chilly Tuesday followed by a noticeable warmup later this week, as temperatures climb into the low 60s while an extended stretch of mostly dry weather continues through Halloween weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, a weak cold front moved through Maine on Monday, Oct. 26, bringing cooler conditions for Tuesday, Oct. 27. Afternoon temperatures are expected to remain primarily in the 40s across northern and eastern portions of the state.
Communities including Caribou, Presque Isle, Fort Kent and Houlton will experience the cooler conditions before temperatures begin recovering Wednesday.
By Thursday, Oct. 29, and Friday, Oct. 30, afternoon highs are forecast to reach the low 60s in parts of the region, providing a significant change from Tuesday's cooler weather.
Despite the warming trend, precipitation remains limited.
Forecasters expect mostly dry conditions through at least Sunday, Nov. 1, with only a slight possibility of showers across northern Maine on Friday.
The continued lack of meaningful rainfall could contribute to ongoing drought conditions across the state.
National Weather Service precipitation projections show particularly low probabilities of measurable rainfall across central and southern Maine through the weekend, including the Bangor and Portland areas.
For residents planning outdoor activities or Halloween celebrations Saturday, Oct. 31, the current outlook favors generally dry conditions, although temperatures and cloud cover will vary by location.
The prolonged dry pattern also means meaningful drought relief is unlikely during this forecast period.
Forecasters are monitoring a possible weather system early next week, but uncertainty remains regarding whether it will bring measurable precipitation.
Residents should continue monitoring updated forecasts as the weekend approaches, particularly if planning travel or outdoor activities.
