Shreveport, LA – A developing weather pattern could bring increasing rain chances to the ArkLaTex region just as Halloween arrives, with forecasters monitoring the possibility of above normal rainfall from Thursday, Oct. 29, through Monday, Nov. 2.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a low pressure system developing across the western United States late next week could draw Pacific moisture toward the Four State region, creating unsettled weather conditions during the final days of October and the beginning of November.
The Climate Prediction Center indicates a 50% to 60% probability of above normal rainfall across portions of the region during the Oct. 29 Nov. 2 outlook period.
The developing pattern could affect communities across northwest Louisiana, northeast Texas, southwest Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma, including Shreveport, Bossier City, Texarkana and surrounding areas.
Forecasters emphasize that rainfall totals remain uncertain, and the developing system's exact timing and intensity have not yet been established.
Halloween Weekend: Rain Could Complicate Outdoor Plans
The forecast period includes Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 31, raising questions about potential impacts on trick or treating, community festivals and other outdoor celebrations.
While the longer range outlook favors wetter than normal conditions, it does not confirm rainfall during Halloween evening or establish specific storm arrival times.
The 50% to 60% probability represents the likelihood of above normal rainfall over the outlook period, not the chance of rain at a particular location on Halloween night.
The National Weather Service is encouraging residents to maintain multiple ways of receiving weather information as the potential pattern change approaches.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts throughout the week, especially as more precise rainfall timing and amounts become available.
