Shreveport, LA – Halloween plans across northern Louisiana could face a growing threat of rain Saturday, October 31, as forecasters monitor an approaching weather pattern that may bring showers during the day before trick or treating begins.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, confidence is increasing that rain will affect portions of the Four State Region this weekend, although the timing and amounts remain uncertain.
Forecasters currently expect the greatest rain chances during the daytime hours Saturday, raising the possibility that showers could move out before Halloween evening festivities.
However, officials emphasize that it remains too early to determine whether all communities will experience dry conditions during trick or treating.
The latest forecast map shows varying probabilities of receiving at least one tenth of an inch of rain Halloween night.
Some communities in northern Louisiana and surrounding areas have probabilities around 20% to 40%, while other locations have lower chances.
Meanwhile, Wednesday, October 28, will bring another unusually warm afternoon across the region.
Temperatures are expected to reach 83 to 86 degrees under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, with southeast winds around 5 to 10 mph.
Overnight temperatures will fall between 50 and 63 degrees.
The National Weather Service is also highlighting elevated fire weather conditions Wednesday , citing ongoing extreme to exceptional drought and low humidity across portions of the region.
Dry vegetation and warm afternoon conditions could allow fires to spread more easily.
The anticipated weekend rainfall could provide some relief, although forecasters have not yet determined how much precipitation will fall.
For families in Shreveport, Bossier City and surrounding northern Louisiana communities, Saturday's rain timing will be especially important.
The National Weather Service expects forecast confidence to improve as Halloween approaches.
