Shreveport, LA – North Louisiana is heading toward a substantial temperature rebound, with afternoon highs expected to climb from the upper 60s Saturday, October 17, to nearly 90 degrees by Thursday, October 22. The warming trend will follow a windy Friday and a cooler weekend, creating a noticeable change for residents across Shreveport, Bossier City and surrounding communities. Sunshine is expected to dominate much of the coming week, bringing increasingly warm afternoons after several chilly mornings.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, temperatures are expected to reach approximately 69 degrees Saturday before rising to 72 Sunday and 77 Monday. The warming pattern will accelerate during the middle of next week, with highs reaching 82 Tuesday, 86 Wednesday and 88 Thursday. The forecast indicates a prolonged stretch of dry weather, with no precipitation listed through the extended local forecast period.
A Major Temperature Rebound Begins Sunday Sunday, October 18, will mark the beginning of the warming trend as sunny skies return and afternoon temperatures climb into the lower 70s. Although the morning will begin chilly following Saturday night's low near 45 degrees, conditions should become increasingly comfortable as the day progresses.
The contrast will become more noticeable Monday, when temperatures are expected to reach 77 degrees under sunny skies. That represents an 8 degree increase from Saturday's forecast high, with another substantial rise expected during the following three days.
By Tuesday, October 20, afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach approximately 82 degrees. Wednesday brings another increase to 86 degrees, followed by a projected high near 88 degrees Thursday.
The progression represents a 19 degree increase in daytime highs between Saturday and Thursday. Rather than a sudden temperature spike, the forecast suggests a steady warming trend unfolding across several afternoons.
Wind and Fire Concerns Precede the Warmup The approaching warmup follows a period of elevated fire weather concerns across northwestern Louisiana, northeastern Texas, southwestern Arkansas and southeastern Oklahoma.
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for Friday, October 16, from 10 a.m. until 1 a.m. Saturday, October 17. A Wind Advisory also remains in effect from 4 a.m. Friday until 1 a.m. Saturday.
North winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching 35 mph, could create hazardous conditions for outdoor burning. Dry vegetation and gusty winds may allow fires to spread rapidly, while unsecured objects and tree limbs could also be affected.
Residents traveling Interstate 20, Interstate 49 and other major highways should use additional caution during the advisory period, particularly when operating high profile vehicles.
These hazards are expected to ease as the weekend progresses, with Saturday bringing north winds of 10 to 15 mph and Saturday night turning calmer.
Sunshine Dominates the Coming Week The most notable feature of the extended forecast is the combination of steadily rising temperatures and persistent sunshine. No additional rain chances are listed in the supplied Shreveport forecast through Thursday.
Morning temperatures will also gradually recover, rising from approximately 45 degrees Sunday morning to 55 degrees by early Thursday.
The increasingly warm afternoons may provide favorable conditions for outdoor events, construction projects and recreational activities. However, residents should continue following local fire restrictions, particularly after the recent period of elevated fire danger.
With Thursday's high approaching 88 degrees, the region could experience a considerably warmer finish to the week than its cooler weekend beginning.
Are you looking forward to the return of upper 80 degree temperatures, or would you prefer the cooler fall weather to stick around?
