Shreveport, LA – Tropical Storm Isaias has formed over the Gulf of Mexico, but forecasters say the storm is currently expected to bring little, if any, direct impact to the Shreveport area and the broader Four State Region.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, Potential Tropical Cyclone One developed into Tropical Storm Isaias early Wednesday. The storm is forecast to move east northeast, with the greatest risk focused along portions of the northern Gulf Coast.
Forecasters said there is a risk of flash flooding across central and southeastern Louisiana, southern Mississippi and southern Alabama. Some precipitation is also expected across portions of northern Louisiana and southeastern Arkansas from late Friday into Saturday.
For communities around Shreveport in Caddo Parish, the ArkLaTex and nearby areas of Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma, the current forecast calls for limited effects from Isaias. Some rain remains possible as moisture associated with the system spreads northward later this week.
The National Weather Service said the storm's forecast track has shifted slightly northeast compared with previous updates. Unless Isaias turns farther west, forecasters expect very little, if any, direct impact across the Four State Region.
Residents along the Gulf Coast should continue monitoring updated forecasts because tropical storm tracks and rainfall projections can change as systems develop.
For the ArkLaTex, attention will center on the potential for rain late Friday into Saturday and whether future forecast adjustments move heavier moisture farther west.
