New Orleans, LA – Halloween celebrations along the Gulf Coast could feature warmer than normal temperatures, but increasing rainfall concerns may affect outdoor plans in some communities ahead of Saturday, October 31. Families preparing for trick or treating, costume parties and fall festivals should monitor the changing forecast as the holiday approaches.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center, the October 27–31 outlook favors above normal temperatures across much of the Gulf Coast, while precipitation probabilities indicate a wetter tendency in western areas and a less pronounced rainfall signal farther east.
Warmer Halloween Weather Expected
Houston, Galveston, Lake Charles, New Orleans, Gulfport, Biloxi, Mobile and Pensacola are generally positioned within areas favoring above average temperatures during the five day period.
The warmer pattern could provide comfortable conditions for afternoon Halloween festivals and neighborhood celebrations.
However, evening humidity, cloud cover and any developing showers could influence conditions during trick or treating hours.
Rain Chances Increase Along Western Gulf Coast
The precipitation outlook shows an important regional difference.
Coastal Texas and portions of western Louisiana are closer to areas favoring above normal precipitation, suggesting a greater possibility of unsettled weather between October 27 and October 31.
Farther east, including coastal Mississippi, Alabama and portions of the Florida Panhandle, precipitation expectations are closer to seasonal averages.
This means Houston and Lake Charles may face a stronger wet weather signal than Biloxi, Mobile or Pensacola.
Will Halloween Night Stay Dry?
With Halloween falling on Saturday, rainfall timing will be especially important for families planning evening activities.
Above normal precipitation during the five day period does not guarantee showers specifically on Halloween night.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts for local rain chances, cloud cover and evening temperatures.
For now, warmer than normal weather appears favored along much of the Gulf Coast, while the greatest rainfall concerns are concentrated toward Texas and western Louisiana.
