Lake Charles, Louisiana – Highs near 97 degrees continue through Wednesday before slightly cooler, drier conditions spread across southwest Louisiana Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, temperatures across southeast Texas and central and southwest Louisiana remain well above normal early this week. Highs Tuesday range from 94 to 98 degrees across the region, with a 10% to 20% rain chance.

Lake Charles reaches 97 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday. The city's rain chance is 40% Tuesday before falling to zero Wednesday through Friday. Lafayette also reaches 97 Tuesday and Wednesday, while Alexandria climbs to 98 Tuesday before dropping to 96 Wednesday.

A weak surface boundary will bring slightly drier air into the region Wednesday. A weak front then pushes temperatures closer to normal beginning Thursday. Regional highs fall to 92 to 95 Thursday and Friday before reaching 93 to 97 Saturday.

Marine conditions also change through the week from High Island, Texas, to the Lower Atchafalaya River and out 60 nautical miles. Northeast winds of 10 to 15 knots Tuesday ease to east northeast winds of 5 to 10 knots Wednesday.

East northeast winds strengthen to 10 to 20 knots Thursday, when seas build to 2 to 4 feet. Winds and seas could be higher in and near thunderstorms. Conditions ease Friday with south southeast winds of 5 to 10 knots and seas of 1 to 3 feet.

Rain remains limited through the second half of the week before chances begin increasing again during the weekend and early next week.
