Paducah, KY – Rain will spread across western Kentucky and nearby areas tonight before becoming widespread Friday morning as a cold front moves through the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, rain is expected to begin in most locations tonight. Coverage should reach its peak during the Friday morning hours before gradually decreasing during the afternoon.
In Paducah, rain chances increase overnight, reaching 75% by 7 a.m. Friday and 90% at 8 a.m. Chances remain at 85% through 11 a.m. before beginning to decline during the afternoon.
Other communities across the NWS Paducah forecast area show a similar pattern. Rain chances reach 90% Friday morning in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, while Evansville, Indiana, reaches 90% during the morning. Chances also rise to 90% in parts of southern Illinois, including Carbondale and Harrisburg.
The timing will vary somewhat farther south and east. Hopkinsville, Kentucky, has its highest rain chance of 90% around midday Friday, while Madisonville reaches 80% during the afternoon.
Clouds and scattered showers may remain across the region Friday evening, and some showers could linger into Saturday morning.
Saturday will turn cooler behind the front, with temperatures generally expected from the lower to middle 70s under mostly cloudy skies.
The NWS expects cooler, drier and mild conditions to settle across the region after the front passes. Residents should expect the most widespread rain Friday morning, followed by gradually improving conditions and mainly dry weather through next week.
