Paducah, KY – A warm, dry stretch will continue across the Quad State region through much of the upcoming week, but the next chance of rain could arrive Saturday, Oct. 31, just in time for Halloween celebrations.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, high pressure at the surface and in the upper atmosphere will dominate the region through next week, keeping skies mostly sunny and temperatures warmer than typical late October averages.
The most notable change could arrive on Halloween itself, when forecasters indicate the next opportunity for rainfall may develop across the region.
The forecast covers portions of western Kentucky, southern Illinois, southeast Missouri and southwest Indiana, including Paducah and surrounding communities.
Sunday, Oct. 25, and Monday, Oct. 26, are expected to feature mostly sunny skies, with temperatures remaining comfortably warm for outdoor activities.
Partly sunny conditions are expected Tuesday, followed by additional sunshine Wednesday through Friday.
Regional average highs are forecast near 77 degrees Sunday and Monday, 75 degrees Tuesday, 78 degrees Wednesday and 80 degrees Thursday and Friday.
Halloween Rain Could Interrupt Dry Weather Pattern
The National Weather Service specifically identifies Saturday, Oct. 31, as the next potential opportunity for rain after an extended stretch of dry conditions.
However, rainfall probabilities, expected amounts and precise timing have not yet been established in the published outlook.
That uncertainty will be particularly important for families planning trick or treating, Halloween festivals and other outdoor events Saturday evening.
Forecasters also note that patchy early morning fog could develop Sunday, especially near warmer bodies of water. Drivers traveling near lakes and rivers should remain alert for locally reduced visibility.
Residents across the Quad State should continue monitoring forecast updates as Halloween approaches, particularly as more detailed precipitation guidance becomes available.
