Paducah, KY – Rain and gusty winds are expected across western Kentucky, southern Illinois, southeastern Missouri and southwestern Indiana this weekend, with most locations forecast to receive a quarter inch to around an inch of rainfall as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias move through the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, rainfall totals have trended lower because of a farther east track of the storm's remnants. Localized amounts above an inch remain possible, especially in portions of western Kentucky, southwestern Indiana and extreme southeastern Missouri.
Friday, Oct. 9, will remain dry and unseasonably warm, with afternoon temperatures reaching the upper 80s across much of the region. Paducah, Cape Girardeau and Evansville are forecast to reach 87 to 88 degrees.
Conditions will change Saturday, Oct. 10, as rain chances increase and temperatures fall into the upper 60s and 70s.
In Paducah, rain chances rise to 75% Saturday evening and 90% early Sunday. Evansville could see precipitation probabilities reach 95% early Sunday.
Gusty winds will accompany the unsettled weather. Saturday wind gusts could approach 28 mph in Paducah and 30 mph in parts of western Kentucky and southeastern Missouri.
The National Weather Service expects most rainfall to occur Saturday through Sunday morning, with forecast totals generally ranging from 0.25 to 1 inch. Some areas near New Madrid, Missouri, and portions of western Kentucky could receive 1 to 1.5 inches.
