Paducah, KY – Western Kentucky faces an increasingly wet and potentially stormy weekend as tropical remnants move north, with the heaviest rain now expected from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, confidence is increasing that the region will experience impacts from the remnants of a tropical system this weekend. The latest forecast has accelerated the timing compared with previous projections.
Warm and dry conditions will continue through Friday, with afternoon highs generally reaching the 80s. Conditions are then expected to deteriorate as tropical moisture moves into the region.
Potential impacts include heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong gradient winds . Forecasters said the exact track remains uncertain, which will determine rainfall amounts, whether severe thunderstorms develop and how strong winds become.
A few tornadoes could also be possible if conditions support severe thunderstorms.
Rain chances increase significantly Saturday across western Kentucky and surrounding areas. The Paducah forecast shows precipitation chances climbing to around 75% Saturday afternoon , peaking near 80% Saturday night and remaining around 80% Sunday morning .
Other communities across the region, including Madisonville and Henderson, could see rain probabilities reach roughly 80% to 90% during the peak period.
The system could also affect southern Illinois, southeastern Missouri and southwestern Indiana, making this a broader regional weather event centered around the lower Ohio Valley.
Residents with outdoor events or travel scheduled this weekend should closely monitor forecast updates. The National Weather Service said people should consider altering weekend plans as confidence in the timing and potential impacts increases.
