Paducah, KY – A chilly start to Sunday, Oct. 18, will give way to a noticeable warming trend across western Kentucky and the surrounding lower Ohio Valley, with afternoon temperatures expected to climb into the upper 70s by Thursday. Residents can look forward to several consecutive days of sunshine, cool nights and generally quiet fall weather.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a stable weather pattern is expected throughout the upcoming workweek, bringing warmer afternoons and cool overnight temperatures across the region.
Sunday morning frost followed by sunshine
Some locations could experience patchy frost early Sunday before temperatures begin recovering under sunny skies.
The regional forecast calls for an average afternoon high near 69 degrees Sunday, followed by an overnight low around 39 degrees.
The chilly mornings will contrast sharply with increasingly mild afternoons as the week progresses.
Temperatures climb toward 80 degrees
Monday, Oct. 19, will bring continued sunshine and an average high near 72 degrees, with overnight temperatures around 40.
By Tuesday, Oct. 20, afternoon highs are expected to reach approximately 74 degrees, followed by 76 degrees Wednesday.
Thursday, Oct. 22, could become the warmest day of the forecast period, with regional highs averaging 78 degrees.
Friday will remain mild, with an average high near 77 degrees.
The warming trend represents a significant change from Sunday's chilly morning conditions, particularly for residents planning outdoor work, recreation or fall activities.
Dry conditions continue through Friday
Sunshine is expected to dominate the forecast through the workweek, with no significant precipitation indicated in the six day outlook.
The extended dry stretch should provide favorable conditions for travel, outdoor events and agricultural activities across western Kentucky, southern Illinois, southeast Missouri and southwest Indiana.
Residents should still prepare for cooler evenings and early mornings, when temperatures will generally fall into the upper 30s and 40s.
Looking farther ahead, NOAA's Oct. 25 31 temperature outlook favors above normal temperatures across the region, although specific Halloween conditions remain uncertain.
