LOUISVILLE, KY – Rain soaked roads and gray skies could complicate Sunday morning travel across Louisville as showers bring an 80% precipitation chance Oct. 11.
The wet weather follows overnight thunderstorm chances and could affect drivers across Jefferson County, including commuters and travelers using Interstate 64, Interstate 65 and Interstate 71.
According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected mainly before 11 a.m. Sunday, with temperatures reaching approximately 71 degrees.
Rainfall amounts should remain below one tenth of an inch Sunday, although overnight thunderstorms could produce locally higher totals.
Drivers should watch for slick pavement, reduced visibility during heavier showers and changing road conditions, particularly during the morning hours.
Overnight thunderstorms carry a 50% precipitation chance, primarily after 2 a.m. Sunday. Rainfall could range between one tenth and one quarter of an inch, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Conditions gradually improve Sunday afternoon as showers diminish and clouds begin clearing. Northwest winds should remain around 5 to 9 mph.
Sunday night brings decreasing clouds and cooler temperatures near 55 degrees.
Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 12, offers a substantial improvement. Partly sunny skies should become mostly sunny, with afternoon temperatures reaching 84 degrees.
Tuesday, Oct. 13, brings even warmer conditions, with sunshine and a high near 87 degrees. Dry weather should favor normal school schedules, commuting and outdoor activities.
However, unsettled weather returns Wednesday, Oct. 14, when showers and thunderstorms carry a 40% chance during the day.
Wednesday night brings a 50% precipitation chance, potentially affecting evening travel.
Five Day Outlook: Thursday, Oct. 15, features a 30% storm chance and highs near 79 degrees.
Friday cools to approximately 71 degrees, with a 30% shower chance.
Saturday, Oct. 17, turns mostly sunny and cooler, with highs near 59 degrees.
