Louisville, KY – Residents across central Kentucky and southern Indiana can expect an extended stretch of dry, mild fall weather, with afternoon temperatures reaching the low to mid 70s and little chance of rainfall through the weekend or potentially into early November.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, an outlook released Wednesday, Oct. 21, indicates a persistent ridge of high pressure will remain over the region, preventing approaching storm systems from bringing significant precipitation.
Sunny Skies and Temperatures in the 70s
Thursday, Oct. 22, is expected to bring mostly sunny conditions following possible morning fog, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the low to mid 70s.
Similar weather is forecast Friday, Oct. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24, as the high pressure system continues dominating the region.
The pattern will provide favorable conditions for outdoor activities, fall festivals and weekend travel across Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green and surrounding communities.
Morning fog could temporarily reduce visibility in some locations, particularly during early travel hours.
Drivers should remain cautious where fog develops before sunshine improves conditions later in the morning.
Rain Could Stay Away Until November
The National Weather Service indicates that the high pressure ridge may prevent meaningful rainfall across the region until sometime in early November.
Forecasters currently expect dry weather to continue through the weekend, with no significant precipitation highlighted in the extended outlook.
The prolonged lack of rainfall could allow already dry ground conditions to persist, although the forecast does not announce any new drought designation or fire weather warning.
Residents planning outdoor activities should benefit from the mild temperatures and generally sunny afternoons.
However, those traveling during early morning hours should remain alert for localized fog and changing visibility.
The extended dry pattern is expected to continue as long as high pressure remains established over the Ohio Valley.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts as early November approaches, when the weather pattern could eventually change.
