Louisville, KY – Residents across central Kentucky and southern Indiana could experience a chilly start to the weekend Friday night, October 23, with patchy frost possible in sheltered rural areas before temperatures rebound into the 70s Saturday and Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service NWS in Louisville, dry conditions are expected to continue through the weekend and well into next week, bringing cool mornings, mild afternoons and favorable weather for outdoor activities.
Patchy Frost Possible Friday Night
Temperatures Friday night are forecast to fall into the 40 to 45 degree range across the region.
Despite those readings, the NWS says patchy frost could develop in sheltered rural locations where temperatures near the ground may become colder than official air temperature readings.
Gardeners and residents with sensitive outdoor plants may want to take precautions, especially in low lying or protected areas where colder air can collect overnight.
Widespread freezing temperatures are not indicated in the current outlook.
Weekend Highs Could Reach 77 Degrees
Saturday, October 24, will bring partly sunny skies and afternoon highs ranging from 71 to 76 degrees. Overnight lows are expected between 42 and 47 degrees.
Sunday, October 25, looks slightly warmer, with highs reaching 72 to 77 degrees and nighttime temperatures between 43 and 48 degrees.
The pleasant conditions should provide opportunities for fall festivals, outdoor recreation and weekend travel around Louisville, Jefferson County and surrounding communities.
Mild Weather Continues Into Next Week
The warmer afternoon pattern is expected to continue Monday, October 26, with highs between 71 and 76 degrees.
Tuesday, October 27, will bring similar conditions, with highs ranging from 71 to 75 degrees.
No significant precipitation is indicated in the four day outlook, and forecasters expect dry conditions to persist well into next week.
Residents should prepare for chilly mornings while enjoying comfortable afternoon temperatures.
