Wichita, KS – Residents across central and south central Kansas could face several rounds of rain heading into Halloween weekend, with isolated thunderstorms Thursday, increasing showers Friday and another widespread rain opportunity developing late Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible late Thursday afternoon into Thursday night, particularly across central Kansas.
Rain chances will increase Friday, October 30, and continue through at least Saturday morning, October 31, before conditions gradually improve Saturday evening.
Friday's temperatures are forecast to reach 71 to 77 degrees, with overnight lows between 55 and 60 degrees across the forecast region.
Halloween Saturday will bring cooler conditions, with afternoon highs ranging from 65 to 70 degrees and overnight lows between 52 and 57 degrees.
The National Weather Service expects showers to be concentrated mainly during the morning hours Saturday, with gradual clearing developing by evening.
That timing could provide improving conditions for trick or treating and other outdoor Halloween activities, although residents should monitor updated forecasts for lingering showers.
The unsettled pattern will not end with Halloween.
Forecasters expect another round of widespread showers to develop late Sunday, November 1, potentially continuing into the early part of next week.
Sunday temperatures are expected to reach 68 to 75 degrees, with nighttime lows between 51 and 55 degrees.
The repeated rain chances could create wet pavement and reduced visibility during heavier showers, particularly for motorists traveling Friday and early Saturday.
Despite the unsettled conditions, temperatures are expected to remain near or slightly above seasonal averages.
The National Weather Service has not indicated a widespread severe weather outbreak in this forecast.
Residents across Wichita, Hutchinson and surrounding central Kansas communities should continue checking updated forecasts as the timing and coverage of weekend showers become clearer.
