WICHITA, KS – Residents across central, south central and southeast Kansas are facing a chilly start to the weekend Friday, but a significant temperature turnaround is approaching. Afternoon highs could climb into the lower 70s by Monday as sunshine and warmer conditions return to the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, a gradual warming trend is expected from Friday, Nov. 6, through Monday, Nov. 9, bringing increasingly comfortable temperatures after a seasonably cool Friday.
Friday Brings Chilly Temperatures and Near Freezing Lows
Friday's forecast calls for partly sunny skies with afternoon highs ranging from 52 to 57 degrees across the region.
Overnight temperatures are expected to fall between 32 and 36 degrees, potentially reaching the freezing mark in some locations.
Residents with sensitive outdoor plants may want to monitor overnight temperatures, especially in areas where readings approach 32 degrees.
By Saturday, Nov. 7, mostly sunny skies should help temperatures recover into the upper 50s and lower 60s, with highs between 57 and 64 degrees. Overnight lows are forecast between 35 and 41 degrees.
Sunday and Monday Bring a Major Warmup
The warming trend becomes more noticeable Sunday, Nov. 8, when sunny skies and afternoon highs between 66 and 70 degrees are expected.
Sunday night's temperatures should remain milder, with lows ranging from 39 to 44 degrees.
By Monday, Nov. 9, the National Weather Service forecasts another sunny day with highs between 69 and 72 degrees and overnight lows between 42 and 47 degrees.
That represents a potential afternoon temperature increase of approximately 15 to 20 degrees compared with Friday.
What Kansas Residents Should Expect
The forecast indicates generally favorable travel conditions through the weekend, with no precipitation shown in the National Weather Service's four day outlook.
Drivers should still prepare for colder morning temperatures, particularly Friday night into Saturday.
Residents planning outdoor activities Sunday or Monday can expect considerably warmer afternoon conditions.
