Des Moines, IA – Mild fall weather will continue across Central Iowa this week, with temperatures warming through Tuesday before scattered showers and thunderstorms become possible Thursday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, Monday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 70s. Light southerly winds are expected, with breezier conditions across northern Iowa.
Tuesday should remain mostly sunny as highs climb into the upper 70s. Southwest winds will become breezy and could gust to around 20 mph.
Some additional cloud cover arrives by midweek. Wednesday is expected to be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the low to mid 50s. Winds should remain light from the northwest.
Temperatures ease somewhat Thursday, with highs ranging from the upper 60s into the 70s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Thursday night, though the NWS said rain is unlikely to be widespread.
Friday should bring improving conditions as the rain clears and skies become partly cloudy. Highs are expected to range from the 60s into the 70s, with lows in the 40s and 50s.
Overall, Central Iowa can expect a mild and mostly dry stretch through much of the workweek. The main period to monitor is Thursday night, when scattered rain and thunderstorms could return before conditions improve Friday.
