Davenport, IA – Rain chances are expected to increase sharply across eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois early next week, with precipitation probabilities reaching 70% to 100% Monday night, November 2, before another round of widespread rain and breezy conditions Tuesday, November 3.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, a larger storm system will move across the upper Midwest Monday into Tuesday, bringing increasing showers and potentially thunderstorms to the region.
Before the system arrives, Halloween evening is expected to remain mainly dry, although isolated light showers or sprinkles are possible.
Overnight temperatures Saturday are forecast between 48 and 54 degrees, providing relatively mild conditions for late October.
Sunday, November 1, will bring partly cloudy skies and afternoon highs ranging from 63 to 67 degrees.
Rain chances remain limited Sunday night, with approximately a 20% probability of showers and temperatures between 50 and 55 degrees.
Conditions begin changing Monday as rain chances increase to 50% to 90%, with afternoon temperatures reaching 63 to 70 degrees.
By Monday night, precipitation probabilities climb to 70% to 100%, with overnight temperatures remaining unusually mild between 55 and 60 degrees.
The National Weather Service forecast also indicates the possibility of thunderstorms Monday night.
Tuesday is expected to remain wet and breezy, with rain probabilities ranging from 80% to 100% and afternoon highs reaching 67 to 72 degrees.
The approaching system could affect travel across communities including Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, Moline and surrounding portions of eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois.
Drivers should prepare for wet pavement, changing visibility and breezy conditions during the Monday and Tuesday travel periods.
Rain chances are expected to decrease Tuesday evening as the system begins moving away.
Residents should continue monitoring updated forecasts for changes in rainfall timing and potential storm impacts.
