Davenport, IA – Residents across eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois face another round of potentially strong thunderstorms Tuesday as a large, slow moving storm system brings heavy rainfall, gusty winds and unsettled weather to the Quad Cities region.
According to the National Weather Service NWS Quad Cities office, multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected Tuesday, Nov. 3, with a few storms potentially becoming strong to severe.
Forecasters also warn that locally heavy rainfall is possible through Tuesday evening, raising concerns about reduced visibility and water collecting on roadways during periods of intense rain.
Rain chances range from 80% to 100% Tuesday, with afternoon temperatures reaching 65 to 69 degrees across the forecast area.
Thunderstorm activity could continue into Tuesday night, when rain chances remain elevated at 60% to 100% and temperatures fall into the upper 40s and mid 50s.
The unsettled weather will not end immediately.
Wednesday is expected to remain breezy, with scattered showers and temperatures ranging from 53 to 58 degrees. Rain chances decrease to 20% to 50% during the day.
Additional showers remain possible Wednesday night into Thursday, with Thursday afternoon temperatures reaching 52 to 59 degrees.
By Friday, conditions should gradually improve, although isolated showers could persist as highs settle between 50 and 56 degrees.
The extended period of rainfall may create travel difficulties along major regional routes, including Interstate 80 and Interstate 74, particularly during heavier thunderstorms.
Motorists should remain alert for rapidly changing visibility, wet pavement and possible localized water accumulation.
Despite the warmer than normal start to the week, a cooldown is expected as the storm system gradually moves away.
The NWS issued its latest forecast early Tuesday morning, emphasizing that the greatest immediate concern is the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms and locally heavy rainfall through Tuesday evening.
Residents should monitor updated forecasts and any watches or warnings issued as storms develop.
