Davenport, IA – A chilly start to Saturday, October 17, will give way to sunshine and a noticeable warmup across the Quad Cities, although another cold night could bring patchy frost Sunday morning. Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s early next week, delivering a stretch of pleasant fall weather.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, afternoon highs Saturday will reach 56 to 59 degrees across eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois as sunny skies help temperatures recover from the early morning cold.
Communities including Davenport and Bettendorf in Scott County, Iowa, and Rock Island and Moline in Rock Island County, Illinois, can expect generally favorable conditions for outdoor activities Saturday afternoon.
However, another chilly period is expected overnight into Sunday morning.
Patchy Frost Possible Sunday Morning
The Weather Service indicates patchy frost could develop Sunday morning as temperatures fall into the 36 to 40 degree range across the region.
Residents with sensitive outdoor plants should monitor overnight temperatures, particularly in rural and sheltered locations where frost can develop more easily.
Sunday afternoon will bring another round of sunshine, with temperatures climbing between 61 and 67 degrees.
The warming trend continues Monday, when highs are forecast to reach 64 to 70 degrees, followed by 66 to 72 degrees Tuesday.
Overnight temperatures will gradually moderate, with lows ranging from 37 to 41 degrees Monday morning and 40 to 46 degrees Tuesday morning.
The extended stretch of sunshine should provide favorable conditions for weekend travel, fall festivals and outdoor activities.
October 22–26 Extended Weather Outlook
NOAA's Climate Prediction Center favors above normal temperatures across eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois during October 22–26, supporting the warmer pattern expected early next week.
The precipitation outlook favors below normal rainfall across much of the Quad Cities region, suggesting relatively dry conditions could continue into the following weekend.
Although the outlook does not guarantee specific temperatures or rain free days, it indicates an increased likelihood of warmer than normal conditions.
Residents should continue monitoring updated National Weather Service forecasts for changes to Sunday's frost potential and next week's temperatures.
