The Center Square In Iowa, the candidates vying for an open U.S. Senate seat said affordability and taxation are key to their campaigns, but they have both similarities and differences in their planned approaches.
Iowa’s U.S. Senate election in November will be one of the most closely watched in the country and will help determine the majority control of the upper legislative chamber. The Cook Political Report recently designated the Iowa race as a “toss up,” meaning either party has a good chance of winning in the general election.
Republicans hold a 53 45 majority in the U.S. Senate, while two indepdent members caucus with Democrats. The Democratic party would need to flip four seats in the chamber to take control in November while holding all current seats.
