Valparaiso, IN – A deadly overnight shooting in Northwest Indiana left one person dead early Saturday morning, triggering a police search and vehicle pursuit that ended near Interstate 94 with two individuals taken into custody.
The shooting occurred in Valparaiso, Porter County, with the investigation extending toward the I 94 corridor after authorities located a vehicle reportedly connected to the incident.
According to the Valparaiso Police Department , officers responded around 2:56 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, to the 50 block of Campbell Street following reports of multiple gunshots and one person injured.
Victim Dies Following Overnight Shooting When officers arrived, they immediately provided emergency assistance to the injured victim while awaiting paramedics from the Valparaiso Fire Department.
The victim was transported to an area hospital but later died from their injuries, police confirmed.
Authorities have not released the victim's identity or provided additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
Investigators learned that suspects had fled the area and obtained a vehicle description and direction of travel.
Police Pursuit Ends Near I 94 While officers searched the surrounding area, a Porter County sheriff 's deputy located the vehicle described in connection with the investigation.
A pursuit followed before the vehicle was stopped near State Road 249 and Interstate 94.
Police confirmed that two individuals were taken into custody following the stop.
