Rensselaer, Indiana A Sunday morning crash at a Jasper County intersection killed one driver and shut down traffic for hours. According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred at the intersection of State Road 110 and US 231.
Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 7:00 a.m. Preliminary investigations indicate that a semi truck traveling westbound failed to stop at the posted stop sign on SR 110. As the semi truck entered the intersection, it collided with a passenger vehicle traveling northbound on US 231.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 54 year old man from DeMotte, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi truck was not injured in the incident.
US 231 was closed to traffic for several hours while authorities investigated the crash and cleared the debris. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of his family.
The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
