Rensselaer, IN – A Rensselaer man faces felony charges after police say an investigation into alleged threats led officers to discover a loaded handgun, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
According to the Rensselaer Police Department , officers responded at approximately 11:33 p.m. Sept. 7 to a report of threats involving 36 year old Christopher Gillette of Rensselaer.
Witnesses told police that Gillette had previously been advised to stay off the property but allegedly returned and threatened to harm people at the residence.
Officers later located Gillette in the 700 block of North McKinley Avenue in Rensselaer, the Jasper County community about 80 miles southeast of Chicago.
Police said officers continued their investigation during the encounter and allegedly found Gillette in possession of a loaded handgun, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Gillette was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Jail, according to the department.
Police said Gillette was charged with Level 6 felony intimidation and Level 6 felony possession of methamphetamine. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of paraphernalia.
The department did not provide additional details in its post about what allegedly led to the initial dispute or the quantity of methamphetamine reportedly recovered.
