Jasper County, IN Crash Today: Mother, Child Seriously Hurt on SR 114

Rensselaer, IN – A mother and her 4 year old daughter suffered significant injuries Tuesday morning after their SUV collided with a semi tractor on State Road 114 east of Rensselaer, authorities said.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff ’s Department, its 911 center received reports of a semi tractor and SUV crash at approximately 7:37 a.m. Tuesday in front of IBEC on SR 114.
Investigators said a 2020 Volvo semi tractor operated by 26 year old Tyler McClure of Peru was traveling westbound on SR 114 while pulling an empty trailer. The truck, owned by Deer Creek Ag Services of Logansport, was attempting to turn southbound into IBEC.
Authorities said the semi turned in front of an eastbound 2016 Ford Escape driven by 33 year old Hannah Minard of Rockville. Minard’s 4 year old daughter was also inside the SUV.
The sheriff’s department said McClure told investigators he did not see the approaching SUV before the impact.
Airbags deployed in the Ford Escape, and investigators said the child was properly secured in a safety seat. Authorities said everyone involved appeared to be wearing seat belts.
Minard and her daughter sustained multiple significant injuries and were transported by Jasper County EMS to Franciscan Health in Crown Point. Their conditions were not immediately released.
McClure and a passenger in the semi did not suffer major injuries and were evaluated and released at the scene, according to authorities.
SR 114 was closed for several hours while emergency crews investigated and cleared debris. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation with assistance from Indiana State Police.
Rensselaer Volunteer Fire Department , Jasper County EMS, INDOT, Cheever’s Towing and IBEC also assisted at the scene.
