Chesterton, IN – A resident encountered a fraudulent check scam while attempting to sell his boat on the Boat Trader app, as reported to the Chesterton Police Department (CPD).

The incident occurred on Saturday, Dec. 2, when the seller was contacted by an individual using the name “Angel David Randy,” who agreed to purchase the boat and sent a cashier’s check exceeding the sale price by $10,000. The seller’s bank later confirmed the check’s likely fraudulent nature.
