Indianapolis, IN – A woman has been arrested by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) detectives nearly two years after the body of a man was discovered during a welfare check.

According to IMPD, 40-year-old Montez Craig was arrested on Monday for her alleged involvement in the December 2022 death of James Milton Jr. On December 11, 2022, officers responded to a welfare check on North Lasalle Street and found Milton deceased in a vehicle with trauma-related injuries.

After an initial investigation and collaboration with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Craig was released pending further inquiry. However, detectives continued their work, leading to Craig’s murder charge and subsequent arrest on Friday. During the arrest, officers also found controlled substances in her possession, resulting in additional drug-related charges.
