Marion, IN – A 33 year old woman was killed and a motorcycle driver was seriously injured Saturday morning following a three vehicle crash in Grant County involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle, a Jeep and a Kia.
According to the Grant County Sheriff 's Office, emergency dispatchers received multiple reports of a crash at approximately 10:21 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, near State Road 26 and County Road 400 West.
When sheriff's deputies and emergency responders arrived, they discovered that both people on the motorcycle had been ejected.
The female passenger, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.
The motorcycle driver suffered serious injuries and was transported by Lutheran Air medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital.
Investigators Detail Three Vehicle Collision Preliminary findings from the Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team indicate that a 2021 Harley Davidson was traveling eastbound on State Road 26 when it collided with a 2007 Jeep traveling westbound.
Investigators said the Jeep had begun making a left turn southbound onto County Road 400 West when the collision occurred.
The motorcycle then lost control and collided with a third vehicle, a westbound 2027 Kia.
Authorities have not announced any charges or determined whether additional factors contributed to the crash.
Victim's Identity Withheld Pending Notification The names of those involved are being withheld while Grant County Coroner Stephen Dorsey continues the investigation and family members are notified.
Sheriff Del Garcia and the Sheriff's Office expressed condolences to the families and friends affected by the tragedy.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Fairmount Police, Indiana State Police, Swayzee Fire, Grant County EMS, Marion Health Paramedics and Lutheran Air.
The crash remains under investigation.
