Indianapolis, IN – First responders from across Indiana are scheduled to gather this Friday, September 11, 2026, to conduct a memorial parade in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who perished.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department , the 9/11 Memorial Parade is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. The procession will start at Indianapolis Firefighters Local 416, located at 748 Massachusetts Ave. The route will travel south on New Jersey Street to Ohio Street, and then west on Ohio Street to the 9/11 Memorial at 439 W. Ohio St. The total distance of the march is approximately 1.7 miles.
Officials are asking members of the public to secure a spot along the route to show support. Following the march, a ceremony is scheduled to take place at the 9/11 Memorial at 12:00 p.m. to pay special tribute to the members of Indiana Task Force One who responded to Ground Zero, as well as those who have been lost in the years since.
The ceremony will also recognize current and retired members of IN TF1 for their ongoing commitment to carrying forward the legacy of that response. Organizers are using the hashtags NeverForget and 343 to encourage community participation.
